A wonderful book with many beautifully detailed models. Many appear quite difficult to assemble, but well worth the effort. I particularly like the violinist, pianist and bass player -- each musician and their instrument is made from a single sheet of player -- and when pulled the musicians play the instrument. The animals are very realistic, also.
Certain models lack clarity on how to achieve desired folds [scorpion]. Diagram images lack shading. They're just lines and arrows. Not clear what side is what. *opinion: This is more of a "Look what I can make" book* Supplies as little information as possible to achieve the final model.Will Not purchase of Robert J. Lang again.
For a book that starts with the basics, the difficulty level escalates rapidly with more explanations that accompany the diagrams which often include several folds not shown. In my opinion this is great for hobbyists who have much more practice than the fourteen months I have been folding with the aid of YouTube videos.
Traditional and useful: this book contains complete folding instructions for a vast number of models, varying levels of complexity. The especially good part is that the diagrams are in traditional line-drawing format rather than photo or video. These drawings work well on my old Kindle Keyboard, though they come out separate from the verbal instructions.This is a very good resource. I've folded the models up to the "animated" section, which is a little beyond me without very large, very good paper, a creasing aid, and tweezers! My favorite is the Rocket, which is really more of a LEM.
it's way advanced, which is fine, but the steps aren't very clear and the pictures don't always help
I was looking for a small-space craft, and the availability of this book made origami perfect. The book is on my Kindle, so it takes up no space. My paper is in a small box, and I fold on a lap desk. The finished products can be decor for a while, or can be passed on as small gifts or ornaments.The patterns in the book start simple (white-faced mouse) and work up. Directions are clear and the diagrams display well on the Kindle. Altogether, this book gives great value for space and money.
This book has a diverse collection of origami projects from simple to moderately advanced. The layout of the material could be improved. Color photos of the finished projects also would've been a nice touch, rather than the drab B/W photos in this book. My only significant criticism is that the diagrams are too "2-dimensional". If you're new to origami, then some of the diagrams may be difficult to follow. Overall though, I recommend adding this book to one's collection.
I think this is a great book. But is only for experience Folders. The diagrams are clear, But there are a few mistakes. Skill Level :From simple to complexClear diagrams? Yes.Tinted diagrams (to show 2 sides of paper)?Only on some of the models.Photos of completed models? Yes - B&W by Robin Macey.Is there indication to the model size resultingfrom size of starting paper? No.Are the models "Pure" origami (From square - no cuts)? Some are from rectangles, ortriangles. And the price? I thought it would be at least 20 Dollers, But no, It's only 10 bucks. I am a origami artist myself, And am collecting origami books. I Plan on buying all Of Robert J lang's books. I would recommend This book to anybody.
