I like the man and the dog(s) very much. Mr. Don is a gentle, humble soul. It is a wonderful book filled with beautiful memories. I haven't had a genuinely wonderful belly laugh in a long time. Mr. Monty Don is a very funny man! (The last time I remember having a good laugh was watching the movie, The Money Pit with Tom Hanks.) I also cried when I read about the deaths of his dogs with the same intensity.. As I read through Mr. Don's memories I realized he didn't just write a book for the sake of making money. He truly loves his family, home and land deeply. He seems to understand very well the impermenant nature of all things.I have a golden Labrador whom was a wild child as a teenager. She has grown into lovely girl.. She is named after Babe Ruth we call her by Ruthie. My husband loved baseball and dogs. Ruthie is officially my puppy and I am officially and undeniably her human!

A delightful and heart warming book, demonstrating the bond between this well known and favourite UK TV gardening presenter and his family of dogs. With all animal stories, there are poignant as well as joyful moments in the lives of these all-important family members. There is also a good insight to Longmeadow, the author's garden, and horticultural and plant information to please gardening enthusiasts. A welcome addition to Monty Don's collection of books.

I started and couldn't stop reading about Nigel in Monty's own words. I also was able to fix in my head the layout and vastness of the Longmeadow that Ive seen on A Gardner's World that Monty Don presents. 5 stars for sure. I loved it so much I ordered two more of his books which will arrive shortly. A wonderful way to past winter days in Michigan.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hated for it to end. I'm a fan of Monty Don's easy, conversational presentation style in his gardening shows, and he's able to capture that same style in his writing, which makes for a very pleasant reading experience. I also enjoyed the way he weaves the story of the family's garden with the lives of the canine members of the family. I also appreciated the many photos of the garden and the dogs interspersed throughout the book. This is a book I look forward to reading again.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I am a dog person and I could equate exactly what Month was describing. Such a wonderful gift to bring joy to many. Highly recommend!

If you are familiar with Monty Don, you'll know why you want to read this book. If not, treat yourself to lovely reflections on the joys of living with dogs, and the wonderful writing of Monty Don.

She decides to use one of Rans’s contacts without his knowledge to go in search of her father, but the consequences are nightmare levels of chilling.The story moves at a fast pace and is absorbing. There are levels of political machinations that Zorah and we readers aren’t aware of yet. The showdown at court toward the end is just one clue of the multi-layered big picture. This is especially evident in the epilogue that leads us waiting eagerly for the next adventure.One of the things I liked about this story was that Zorah thought she suffered chronic illness before the reveal that she was part succubus. I enjoyed seeing this different type of heroine depicted on the page because it’s a very real slice of life. Several of my friends have chronic illnesses. Another thing about Zorah is that she doesn’t start as a “strong” heroine. She begins everything as weak and afraid, and she’s going through the journey on the page to have true strength of character.I will say that the title of the series is misleading as Rans is not the main character. I assume we’ll learn more about him in other volumes. As an attention grabber, though, “The Last Vampire” is a lot more interesting and immediate than “The Succubus Who Didn’t Know She Was a Succubus” or whatever could be said about Zorah.A note on the audio performance: Gwendolyn Druyor is the voice of Steffan/Woolf. If you’ve listened to any other titles, you know what to expect. If you haven’t heard her performances before, you’re in for a treat. She’s very good and always adds things to her performances that make the dialogue sound like real people speaking.This is recommended for readers who like urban fantasy and paranormal romance since there are fae, demons, a succubus, and yes, a lone vampire. Do yourself a favor, though, and start with the first book if you haven’t done so already.

Loved the first book, and this one makes it even better! The primary characters develop along with their relationship and the storyline. In the first book, we find Zorah being pursued by the Fae, who consider her an abomination and the physical proof of a broken treaty with demons (of whom we see very little). In this second book of the trilogy, she willingly places herself in Fae hands, in a misguided attempt to save her father (who has rejected and neglected her for most of her life) and her vampire savior and lover. Towards the very end of the book, we discover her significance to the Fae, demon and human realms, leading to the third book, which I immediately pre ordered, upon finishing this book. I hope the third book will resolve this storyline with no cliffhanger, while leaving room for further adventures!

Okay...I'm officially hooked and I wish I had paid attention to the fact that book three hasn't dropped yet so now I'm clenching my jaw and stomping my feet in protest like petulant child. Not sure how I feel about being reduced to acting like a child. 😂. Hats off to the Author. R.A. and Jaelynn, this book was amazing, 💯%. (And I made sure to keep spoilers out)

The story continues and we start seeing new sides of the characters. Nice twist on the sullen vampire and the demon half breed. Really enjoyed it. I will be definitely waiting for the next one

I read thru this book in a couple of hours. Really good and when I read the last page a huge breath woodshed out like wow but oh crap the end. I have to get the next book now

This story so captivating! I can not put it down. The only thing I didnt like was when it ends as a cliff hanger, and that once complete I could summarize it about two paragraphs. I am anxiously waiting on the third book!

Everything a second book should be. Cannot wait for the next book to be released. Story grabs you, and although leaves off on a cliffhanger, it leaves you ready for more. Definitely a series worth having.

Another vampire story full of action and steamy romance! May the battle between good and evil continue in book 3. Coming in March!

I never thought I'd actually wish to read MORE cases in a casebook, but here we are. This book basically describes the securities laws and regulations in narrative-form, and it's not well done. The problems in the book often don't seem to correspond so well with what was just read; in my class, the professor often alters the hypos slightly and they make way more sense when he does that - so I think the problems in the book need some help. Also sidenote about the condition of the book - be careful what condition you buy it in/who you buy it from because I bought this book used and I have never seen a more highlighted book; it's in unacceptable condition.

Unimaginable that an academic publishing company would allow an ebook to be published without the page numbers corresponding to the text version. Does Wolters Kluwer have any idea how readings are assigned -- by page numbers, not by chapters or kindle location. What a sham.

This book is so poorly written and edited that you practically need a map in order to get through a single sentence. The grammar is all over the place, and it makes an already confusing topic incomprehensible. After this quarter, I'll have wasted probably 7 or 8 hours just trying to figure out which words various other words were trying to modify so that I could make usable translations for my notes.

Let me start by saying this book is truly like no other book I have ever read on the topic of World War Two. It reads like something that should have been made into a movie starring Humphry Bogart great actor like Burt Lancaster.It is a wonderful, gritty read, about men who defy the odds and try to escape Corregidor as the Japanese accept the surrender of American forces in the Philippines. It shows their anger, concern and desire to escape what they saw as a disaster. They wanted to take their chances.And they did. They sank their primary ship and took off on a thirty foot half-open boat with the idea of finding Australia. However, in the haste to leave the area they managed to leave without maps and sextant. This is the story of how they survived, may have even thrived in some areas, and managed to do the impossible.Inside of this book you’ll read what it was like to take big risks. They hid from Japanese patrols, aircraft and even destroyers. They ate what they could find and may have even run into South Pacific cannibals in their quest to escape imprisonment by the Japanese.But I don’t want to spoil this adventure for you. So I won’t say more.I have two regrets in regards to this book. The first is simply finding this book so late in my studies. It’s a wonderful read. It’s a treasure like finding Etched in Purple: One Soldier’s War in Europe by Frank Irgang. In fact, I think they were published within a year of each other about 1943.The other regret is I’ve not found a copy of the first edition, yet.

Outstanding book and most excellent, (and pleasurable), to read. Truly a story within a story. This escape from the "rock" of the island of Corregidor, Republic of the Philippines, was written in December 1942 and printed in March 1943. The wording and vernacular magically transports the reader back in time. The author and Captain of the 36 foot diesel boat, (that escaped the wrath of the Japanese), Lieutenant Commander John Morrill, writes about one of his shipmates who's stammering problem is akin to that of the likes of the King of England. Morrill has a plethora of similar references to different movie stars and other notables of that timeline. He often refers to WWI as the World War, (apparently WWII didn't have it's moniker when John wrote about his odyssey).The heroics of this 18 man crew and how they jelled as a team is inspirational. Their 31 day, 2000 mile escape to freedom is just downright phenomenal. John also talks about Longaskagawayan Point and his mission there, (before the fall of Bataan). He was told to put the kibosh on the Japanese by shelling them from the sea via his mine laying ship, the USS Quail. He mentions that the concrete poured for the pill boxes on that mountain coastline, (just west of the Island of Corregidor), were 2 - 5 years old. Meaning the Japanese had some serious plans that were in the works for years prior to the start of WWII. I have had the pleasure of visiting the "rock" when I was stationed at Clark AB, RPI, and remember quite distinctly that mountain side. The locals referred to it as "Kamayian Point". Kamay meaning hand in Tagalog. That side of the mountain jutted out from the Bataan peninsula in five fingers, (if you will), and was thought to be the ideal offensive position for the Japanese Imperial Army -- as it overlooked all shipping coming into and out of Manila Bay. It was reported that of the 400 Japanese defending that point, only 5 survived that deadly shelling, via the USS Quail and the big guns of Corregidor.A must read for the WWII enthusiast. Most of the 18 man crew that escaped went on to serve the US Navy for 20 - 30 years. John Morrill retired as a Rear Admiral. I'd rate this book six stars if I could. Grab yourself a copy and enjoy the boat ride to freedom! You won't regret it.

This is a World War Two story, about a Naval officer leading 17 other seaman in a daring escape from Corregidor, in a 36-foot naval launch, after Corregidor's fall in 1942. As this book was finished in December 1942, all events are fresh in the author's mind, and it shows in the details provided in this book. As it was written in the early 1940's, he uses slang and language from the era, which I found refreshing. The men are also portrayed as how we'd like to believe American men from the era were ... rugged, noble, and a little bit naive.This is a great real-world adventure written at a time when ultimate victory over the Japanese was not assured. Five stars.

Wow! Cmdr Hollis really spins a yarn -- except its' all true! Put in context, it was written (dictated?) Christmas 1942, when the outcome of WW II in the Pacific was still very uncertain and a lot of US Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airman -- as well as thousands of Japanese military and civilians -- were still to die. Knowing a little about navigating a small boat on the open ocean, this was a magnificent feat of seamanship, plus discipline and leadership. Found the epilogue also very interesting -- everyone went back to work fighting, training, several being killed in the process. These are the real heros of WW II. we'll never see their likes again.
