4.5 starsBig Jeff Lemire fan here (Royal City, Essex County, Sweet Tooth, Descender, Black Hammer, a couple of the Old Man Logan books). He passed on doing the artwork here - and it works out beautifully as the artistic team does an excellent job with facial expressions and creating a strong noir feeling/setting.The first two issues start slowly. Plow through them. Read this all at once. The characters are interesting (the priest, the sheriff and the doctor - sounds like a bad bar joke). The story is entertaining, though it feels a little similar to Kirkman's Outcast (small town, priests, super natural goings on, involvement with law enforcement, dark shading).I expect when future volumes come out, I will give this five stars instead of four-point-five. I just need to see where it goes.
Lemire does it again with a Twin Peaks-flavored story that has striking originality and psychedelic visuals.It is really more of a comic you get for the play it does with layouts and form than its story, but it’s very much worthwhile.
This is one of the best horror graphic novels I've read in the last few years.Both the story and art are so good and together they are much greater than they are separately. Highly recommended.
Loved this story. It was a page turner. Loved the artwork as well. Plan to read each volume as it becomes available!

Excellent issue - very good story
Far and away the best thing I have read in 2018. Having finished the first "book" (issues 1-6) I have now started picking up single issues off the stand. Absolutely terrific.
