Reading the interviewee list at the front of this book literally made me squeal. David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, Jon Favreau (Director of Speechwriting), Joe Lieberman, Leon Panetta, David Plouffe, Arun Chaudhary (WH Videographer), and then, of course, because you know this B has ALL the dirt: the West Wing Receptionist. And that's just my own personal squeal list; he talked to 112 people if I counted right. The Book's title (Obama: An Oral History 2009-2017) is misleading in the best way, because we get two bonus chapters... 2004-2007 and 2008. Reading 2004-2007 was riveting. Abrams takes individual quotes from individuals he interviewed and weaves them together into a cogent, fresh, and exciting narrative. If you haven't tried reading an oral history, do it. Abrams hard-hitting, fast-paced style will leave you wanting to pick up another by him (Letterman fans, rejoice - he did one on that show as well).

Don't let the intimidating size fool you - Abrams' history of the Obama presidency is a refreshingly quick read that manages to capture both the tumult of an administration in persistent crisis with the aspirations of a President (and his staff) who seem to genuinely aspire to do great things for the nation. Able to capture both the 30,000 foot view, and the nitty-gritty of daily life in the White House, this book is not only a study of one of the most transformational presidents in American history, but paints a compelling picture of the men and women who devoted their lives to being a part of this unprecedented administration. 10/10. A terrific read!

I liked the way it was put together so artfully. The oral history style, for whatever reason, helps you understand the way times change and showed me things I honestly didn’t understand before. The chapter on the debt ceiling crisis, for example, was really exciting and that is so weird for me to say about something to do with a government budget negotiation! But I was sucked in!

A truly impressive book that gets on the record, from the horses mouths, so to speak, a lot of information that was once apocryphal.And it's readable as hell!

This was a different kind of read. I had to keep referring back to who these individuals were and what they did but then jobs changed so often that it was hard to keep them straight an what parts they played. I was expecting more inside juicy stuff so was disappointed. It was a good read, not great.

An amazing read. Great nut-and-bolts tale of the Obama campaign and administration that is brisk despite its length. Well-written and worth everyone's time in this age of Trump.

Really insightful view of Obama's administration through the people he worked closest with. Love this book, buying more to gift.

This book is ideal for those of us who need to refresh knowledge and skills of relational databases that may have been unused for a few years, or for people who need to understand relational database concepts in a hurry.It starts with concepts that are essential to understanding relational databases, then introduces you to SQL. If you are working with Oracle you will find that standard SQL and Oracle's SQL*Plus are quite different in that SQL*Plus has a richer set of verbs. Regardless, the intro to SQL is valuable and it provides you with the ability to write queries for real world needs. The examples will work with DB2, Oracle of any other database that will understand standard SQL, making this book product-independent and invaluable.The sections that I especially liked covered normalization and entity-relationship models. These are basic knowledge factors that are essential to understanding relational databases, and are the heart and soul of the book.This book's value is that it's straightforward and presents a lot of material in a short number of pages. It is not for non-technical people in my opinion because the writing is sparse and terse. However, if you have an understanding of data or want a fast refresh this book will save you time by cutting through the fluff.

This outline is to broad and too shallow to be that useful. The outline tries to cover SQL, database theory, functional dependencies, normalization, database security, the entity relationship model, and throw in an MS Access example screen every now and then - all in just 250 brief pages. I hate to give the book two stars, because that usually indicates a book is pretty useless, but I feel I'd be a little too kind in giving it three stars too. My advice is to go with an introductory book like "Databases Demystified", and then get a book dedicated to SQL and learn that language separately. I prefer "Learning SQL", published by O'Reilly and Associates. If you want more advanced material on database theory after that, C.J. Date's book, "An Introduction to Database Systems", is a good one.

This text is littered with typos. The narrative is dry and difficult to read; the authors seem to walk all over themselves trying to over-explain things rather than just taking the time to find the most concise and understandable way to say them. They use nonstandard symbols in their technical descriptions, and some symbols are simply not explained at all.I am not very impressed with this book. I am basically skimming through it to pick up the basic concepts and I will explore them on my own without the help of this book.

Jeff Wheeler's novels do two things which I believe are essential to writing great fantasy, or even historical and science fiction, fiction that can hold its own with all those marvelous books of classical fiction. First: he makes the reader think, ask the questions such as "What if..." "Where is this going?" "Why did he do that?" These are questions that not only keep us reading, but teach us in so many ways that actions have consequences. And second, more importantly, his characters model for the rest of us what William Faulkner, in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech (which should be required reading for every aspiring writer, I think) called the "old verities and truths of the heart: love and honor and pity and pride and compassion and sacrifice." Both Thomas and Ankarette are paragons of those verities, strong, virtuous characters who reveal the kind of nobility that does not come with birth, but with service to people and worthy causes and to the Supreme Being who orders all things for good. Ankarette is thrust into the role of professional assassin, but the choices she makes do not violate her principles or her values. Sir Thomas likewise must make choices that, were he a weak or venal sort, could violate his honor and loyalty to the kingdom. Together they use their gifts to preserve honor and defeat the evil that threatens to overwhelm them and their people, at great personal cost. If one has not already read the rest of the King fountain series, do move on to the Maid's War and then the other six books. The best is yet to come.

I always had questions about Ankarette Treneowy, The Queen's Poisoner. I wanted to know how she became the poisoner and why she was so sad. Those questions and more are answered in this book. It is full of plot twists and surprising facts and underhanded dealings. I could not put it down and read the entire book all day and night. Even though I knew how it would end I kept wanting a different outcome. Like that person that followed Julian Fellows (Downton Abbey) all through a book store sniffling until he finally acknowledged her and she brokenly begged him to give Edith a happy ending, I wanted a happy ending for Ankarette. She is such a likable character and filled with compassion.

I loved it and highly recommend not just the series but this book in particular. Ankarette Tryneowy was my favorite character in the Queen's Poisoner, and I had a lot questions about her as I read the first book. The Poisoner's Enemy answers many--although not all--of the mystery surrounding Ankarette's background. Wheeler has created a remarkable world based loosely on the War of the Roses era in England, and has crafted a remarkable group of vivid characters. You won't be disappointed with any of this series, but this latest book was especially well done.

While for returning readers the main events and the outcome are known, this novel does a nice job filling some of the gaps of the fictional history. Ankarette is truly a marvelous character and getting to see her growing up and into the role of The Queen’s Poisoner is interesting and fun. The story is nicely written, with hints and nods to the rest of the series. Politics, intrigue and love are present and depicted in a believable way. It’s well worth the read for both returning readers as well as new ones, providing an interesting entrance to the whole universe. Some mysteries remain and the story still leaves some questions unanswered, in a way making you yearn for more. The most interesting ones are what is Pissan all about and who is Lord Hux? Looking forward to reading more in future installments.

I have been an avid and vocal fan of Jeff Wheeler's books since I discovered them last year. In the time since then, I have read and loved every book he's written. The Kingfountain series is a fantastically written tale of magic, politics, and adventure and this prequel was no exception. When I read The Queen's Poisoner last year, I was enthralled by Ankarette, so I was excited to have an entire book dedicated to her. Although we see her in The Maid's War, we don't find out much about her past and how she became to be the person we meet in the opening of The Queen's Poisoner. Although this book doesn't answer all of the questions I have about Ankarette (truly, I would read an entire series dedicated to following her life) we do get enough information to piece together what might have happened in the bridge between this book and the beginning of the Kingfountain series.What I love most about these books is that they are full of political intrigue, mythology, religion, magic, and carefully placed Easter eggs to Jeff Wheeler's Muirwood and Mirrowen series. You will absolutely want to read the Muirwood books in addition to the Kingfountain novels. The relationships between the worlds are some of the things I love most about the series, though, no spoilers here! Jeff actually has a suggested reading order on his website which I would recommend. I would also highly recommend listening to these books. Kate Rudd is a fantastic narrator and has become one of my absolute favorites to listen to.I am so sad that this book marks the end of the Kingfountain world but am excited that Jeff's newest Harbinger series, Storm Glass, is just a few short months away.

I'm torn between giving a review of the contents of this book and the physical attributes. This is a wonderful book on giving the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. It gives even the mundane answers. I would recommend this book to anyone asking the questions we all have about life, living, and dying. I give it 5 stars for content. My disappointment in the physical aspect of the book itself is in the displacement of pages/. This is not a low-cost book, it should be checked before final release. I give this 2 stars.

I first bought this book in 2006, and the wisdom contained in it REALLY resonated with me, IMMEDIATELY. I fell in love with the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and ended up buying just about every book he ever wrote. I was so unhappy with myself and with life in general at the time that I bought this book. But shortly after I started reading the book, my perspective on everything started to completely change. I have often said that Yogananda ended up "saving me from myself", and this book was what started the whole process. I HIGHLY recommend it. (It's easy reading too. The wisdom is in short segments.)

I am a big fan of Pramhansa Yoganda. I beleive what he has to say is not only spiritaul but very accurate. This book is an easy read, with short chapters. However do not let the short chapters and sentences fool you. There is enough wisdom in this book for a lifetime. This book is a great read for the novice,a faithful practioner or even if you never heard of Parmhansa Yoganda. I have read so much about Paramhansa Yoganda and sometimes his books can be a bit overwhelming. Not this book! I highly recommend this book and if taken as a spiritual study can have positive profound influcence on you. I would have love to have met Parmhansa Yoganda in person, he is needed now more then ever.

Excellent book. Extremely fun and easy to read. The chapters particularly on karma and reincarnation really opened my eyes.

I enjoyed reading this book. It's easy to read and understand. The stories are very interesting and give good examples of the supernatural lifestyle of a believer. I like the questions at the end of each chapter that makes you consider what you have just learned. When I read the prayer at the end of the book, I felt a warmth run through my body and I received the impartation. I plan to read this book again.

Strap in... This will be a wild ride! However, the author lays out revelations into supernatural encounters in a very simple, easily-absorbed manner. He is a very kind brother and passionate about helping others encounter the glory realm as he is. Well-worth the read!!!

Very good book!! I am hoping to learn from this as I have a holy jealousy. Robert gives real important keys for things I need to work on so I have hope. I also loved his honesty about sin, I worry and try too hard to be perfect, this is obviously not necessary when we rely on Christ for our righteousness. This is an awesome hands on book. Not only does it cover the technical aspects and the programming aspects, Igoe manages to develop and present a collection of low cost labs on real hardware. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to begin a deep dive into NFC.

The content of this book should be updated. This book is totally useless.

Good introduction. Solid examples of introductory applications. Not very technical, and good starter kit for people learning how to code.

I did found lots of good information but needed to look for other sources for example for applicable NDEF information. Large parts of the book consists of source code and explanations of than code.
