I am very disappointed in this TINY book.....The description didn't make it clear that this is all prose and nothing more. It is a very small format and there are NO paintings.... Too much money for 96 tiny pages with none of his paintings. I will return it.

In what was a great disappointment, I discovered that the 2013 Unicorn Press re-print of this excellent book does *not* include the plates of Churchill's paintings. All of the used editions I've seen include those plates in color.

Other people have commented on the lack of plates, it's true, sadly they didn't include them, it would have been a terrific book with that. That aside, the way Churchill waxes on the hidden benefits that come from painting, especially in oils, makes for a very inspiring read. He started at age 40, a late bloomer he admits. I was intrigued by all the things he was able to see that came from creating art. I won't spoil things by revealing his insights in his short easy to read book, but it has a very inspiring effect and will make you want to go pick up a brush or pencil, and without being timid in doing so..I will re-read this book again when I am needing encouragement, such positive thoughts are in it, he makes very good points!

I watched an interview with former President George W. Bush saying how this essay made him realize he wanted to paint. As an illustrator my whole life, I hadn’t considered painting until recently. I read this book and it inspired me much as it did the former president! I loved it. It was an easy read as it’s more of an essay than a book and it was shipped to me quickly which I loved.

This is the edition which is illustrated with images of Churchill's paintings. its a small book filled with inspiration for the beginning painter and its a keeper in my art library. I'm a late bloomer in the field of visual representational art as was Churchill and its delight full to find that he also began painting to express creativity and to be in the moment. For him to escape the cares of government, for me, to transcend an ordinary life.

The amazon description did not make it clear this book is text only. There are no photos of Churchills paintings in this book. Total disappointment when I discovered that fact after receiving the book. I am really irked at Amazon for not making this clear before I pushed the order button

In this little volume, just a few thousands words, Churchill makes his case for why one should take up painting as a pastime or hobby. Mainly, he say, it helps you to see better, to see, for example, that a tree is not green, but a hundred or a thousand shades of green and other colors. In Churchill's case, he started painting in oils in his 40s and then became more serious about it after his retirement, or semi-retirement, from public life.Did Churchill convince me to try it. I'm not sure. I'm thinking about it, though.

This is such a fascinating book. I picked up a copy at a lending library and was amazed to learn that Churchill had taken up painting as a hobby and that it became one of the main passions of his life. Painting changed the way he looked at things - nature and art. It gave him absolute joy as he increased his ability to capture light and images. I wanted to share the book with one of my friends so I ordered this copy and was very pleased that it was a good price, in good condition including having the 18 colour plates and it arrived within days. I highly recommend this marvelous true story.

Bought this for my wife, whose bone density test last time was surprising. Very good solid book, not a doctor or researcher herself, but she refers to good research and puts it all together into a nice, coherent, well-organized, well-written, well-thought out book. She convinced me that I should get a bone density test, myself, citing the numbers of men who suffer fractures in their 60s and 70s. She has strong opinions against using the pharmaceutical drugs normally prescribed and gives convincing arguments for avoiding them. She goes into which nutrients and supplements are most helpful in countering bone loss and what kinds of exercises. These include very specific data and arguments that are sound and valid and worth reading about and considering. I think it's important to also read other books on the same subject before deciding on a final course of action, so I purchased two others for my wife (Dr. Lani's No Nonsense Bone Health Guide and The Complete Book of Bone Health by D. Schneider) and these are also great reads for health-related books and very informative, and have a lot of info not in Pizzorno's book that help balance out and add to what we learned here. My wife and I are both long-time health geeks who have a huge library of books on nutrition, health, exercise, etc. and have tried and experimented with many of the ideas we've learned about with many good results and few bad ones. This and the other 2 books I mentioned are all worthwhile and compare favorably to most health related books out there. I would recommend them and we will no doubt hang onto them for some time.

As a health care provider, I was impressed by the depth of research that the authors did and their extensive knowledge of bone physiology, which was excellent. But there is a caveat: whenever an author seems to be selling something, I back off, and that was the case here. These authors endorse a certain combination of supplements, some of which i think are excessive and not well researched. So I would recommend this book for gaining understanding of the condition, and also for a thorough discussion of the drugs in common usage for osteoporosis, all of which pose significant risks to some women who might choose to take them. The nutritional section is also quite well done.

This book SHOULD be read by everyone facing the "antique" category, and WOMEN in their 20's NOT til your life is destroyed by Osteoporosis do you realize the price you pay for little things later in life like pop and milkshakes.This book was bought just as my wife was prescribed Bisphosphonates - after a fractured disk - her entire bone history was mishandled because, REALLY, medical community seems to HAVE no non-prescription way to handle this. As our Pharmacist says - its all we have. Our Chiropractor - who by the way, found the osteopenia that everyone else had missed, and in the FIRST visit about 5 years ago - MY urologist, another well-known pharmacist I heard speak, and OTHERS, have all said basically the same thing - that bisphosphonate treatment is almost worse than the disease itself; and OVER time it may well be.One quote from a researcher in the book, about this drug "Why would ANYONE prescribe this?"There is an additional wealth of information as well - diet, etc that is NOT new to us. WE have a gym at home - my wife uses it maybe 10 hours a week. She eats carefully.Rather than the drug prescribed which is supposed to MAINTAIN your bone density we went looking for ways to INCREASE bone density. The book has a number of suggestions - we were already taking one of them when we bought the book. We asked her doctor about it when the prescription was given but she was unaware of alternatives. There are OTHER suppliments on the market that may be even MORE aggressive in restoring bone health, but we were comfortable with our choice.It's my wife that's been reading it, but the info I get across the table is that she thinks its a goldmine of information.The author, does, however, ignore the existence of pork. WE eat a lot of it. So the nutritional value info is missing in her charts.BUT that does NOTHING to invalidate the research. Its a "full marks" book for us.

Took such a long time to ship--but it's okay. It explains everything very simply; it covers all the basics but doesn't go into enough detail. It's a good book for people that have osteopenia and time to reverse the condition. I have severe osteoporosis so I prefer the more detailed books because I need to turn this around pronto--look at McCormick's book and get this one to accompany his detailed book.

Comprehensive, well written book. I had been taking Fosamax and did not like the way my bones felt, achy and sore. After reading this book, I realize that osteoporosis prescription medications may not be the best answer. I appreciated reading the scientific studies that back up the information and the "roadmap" with diet, exercise, and supplements that can help make my bones stronger and reverse the osteoporosis. I am a believer and have recommended this book to other women with osteopenia and osteoporosis.

While some may enjoy this book. I sadly, did not. Had I been a British professor, maybe, but it was slow and a bit dry snd definatly not written the way Americans prefer to read.

This was a collection of essays that were on the whole very entertaining. The first was a bit erudite for my taste but the remainder made the book very worthwhile.

Interesting book but very small. There are only 87 pages, and that includes some blank pages between chapters. Toward the end, Bryans recommends the book, "The Five Love Languages," by Gary Chapman. You could save money and just read Chapman's book. Bryans has advice on "The Power of an Affectionate, Unselfish Woman" and "Love In Action -- Treat Him Like A King." Seems like men give advice on how a woman should act so the man can be happy. But what about the woman's happiness?

I think this book is especially useful for women who have "forgotten" or just plain never learned what appeals to men. Some of the advice is old fashioned and you do run the risk of lying down like a doormat if you don't apply it wisely. On the other hand, working some old fashioned charm into your modern appeal is a great hook...and one most women don't take advantage of or know how to use. This book will teach you. It felt silly and forced to me to follow through on some of this advice but my boyfriend ate it up. I worry that if you followed through on ALL of the advice you'd end up as a servant in your own home. This is still worth reading because it offers something different and potentially very potent. There are a lot of relationship books for women encouraging them to be challenging and independent to the extent that theyre never available to their men. If that doesn't come naturally to you, as it can feel for me, this is another approach you can use that may suit you better. And, even though some of it is tacky, men definitely like it and will like YOU for it.

ALL I CAN SAY IS IT WORKED! Not my ONLY source of information, I read a few different books and my new man has fallen hard for me!I would not have done this research had I not had a goal, but this short read gives you really good information IF u have a man and want to get along with him better, or if you’re looking for the man of you’re dreams

I liked this book although I think that sometimes it implied that a woman needs to be submissive. But I highlighted a lot of lines and even realized where my last relationship went wrong. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to reading more from Mr. Bryans.

Would strongly suggest watching the John Wayne movie HONDO to see what a man must be thinking about in terms of trust if you have any doubts what the author was writing about. The dating rituals have changed from when I was young and dating. The language of getting to know another person now is different as well. Made me ask myself if it's really worth the effort and more important do I really want a long lasting relationship with all the rituals having changed so much. The essentials are the values that most mature people grew up with and are to my mind the golden rule explained in great detail. Right now I want friendship not drama, maybe that will change. I appreciate his advice about facing realities and moving on. Meanwhile I will continue to look for books that can help me navigate todays meeting, dating and relationships in 2019.

Let me preface my critique of this book by first stating that I'm a complete novice when it comes to debate or argumentation. However, my husband is a brilliant debater and I have always admired the way he could make his points and back them up. So, I decided to get this book and teach myself how to do what he does. He corrects all my papers and that's really wonderful... to have someone not only near, but dear, to help me in this endeavor.What I really like most about this book is that it's simple. Everything is explained thoroughly and in easy-to-understand language. However, when I first started with it, I complained to my husband---> 'Why do they have to use the word 'premises'? Why don't they just say 'reasons'? Why do they have to use the word 'conclusion'? Why don't they just say 'opinion'? LOLWell, he explained it this way---> 'As with all things, the language of debate has its own deliberate verbiage. And, if you want to master this art, then you must use the language that debate has adopted for itself. As long as you know that 'premises' is just another way of saying 'reasons' and that everyone's 'conclusion' is their 'opinion', you're doing just fine. Trust me, it's a helluva lot easier than trying to learn the language of mathematics!' LOLI highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to jump into learning the art of debate/argumentation. The exercises are actually fun to do; and I love that the answers are in the book... that I don't have to go online to find out if I'm right or wrong. I also love the many examples used in the book as they so help in clarifying whatever lesson the author is addressing.What I'm finding is that I'm learning to express myself better... both verbally and in my writing. I feel like I'm smarter than I was before! But my husband says that I've always been smart-- just not so adept at being able to get my point across to others.For that alone, I'm grateful for this book. I feel more confident in speaking and writing; and, I also feel that I'm a better listener. Instead of getting all emotionally flustered when debating or arguing with other people, I feel that I'm hearing them in a different way now... more from an intellectual level than an emotional one. And this is a good thing because I don't get upset or mad anymore. I'm able to be much more engaged with them, able to consider their opinions without flipping-out, able to reiterate back to them what they're saying so that I'm certain I'm understanding them correctly, and then offer my own argument for my stance on whatever subject we're talking about. It seems to have the added benefit of keeping the conversation on a much more friendly level than an antagonistic one.Buy, and use, this book with confidence. You'll be glad you did.

I grabbed this book as a last-minute substitute for a course and never looked back. It's been a great course book. Lots of working examples is the best feature. The weakness is that it isn't available in book form in my country. Kindle works fine though.

Sadie Carter has rapidly become one of my favorite authors! I preordered Nax, I was pretty excited when I got it. I didn't waste any time reading it. The review took me a bit long to leave. But when I saw the one star review I knew I had to leave a 5 star review.Loved Crista! I completely understand guarding her heart. My hat is off to her for caring for her mother. That alone is amazing. I was in a similar situation with a special needs child. Nobody really understands until they live it. It just isn't easy to take care of them. I get why she didn't believe he would accept her and her mother. Right there with you!Nax was amazing! The gruffest one of the bunch and he landed Crista. Not the type of woman he was looking for, but he fell for her.I'm looking forward to more on the Sky Warriors. Then I'm going to go back and read all of it again.Keep chugging them out, Sadie!

This book is just a great as the last three books in this series. Like how Nax had so much trouble realizing he had found his mate but wasn't put off by her mom having dementia ,or that his mate think that he wouldn't, want her mom around. What I really loved about the book was just how his pack was right there willing to help and take care of him mate's mom without question

Loved it. Sadie has been my hero starting with my first Zerconian and now the Sky Warriors. As always, waiting for more. Thank you.

I loved this probably even more than the first two if possible. Bad is just an infuriating make yet makes a sweet mate for Crista. Can't wait for the next installment!

Once again Sadie Carter delivers a fantastic story! I loved Nax and his protective attitude. He is quite the character. Don't know if you should hug him or shake your head in exasperation. And Crista is a wonderful daughter and perfect compliment for Nax.

This book was delightful. It was nice to see knax come out of his shell.I always enjoy Sadie Carters work.

Great book this is Book 4 of the Sky Warriors series. The Sky Warriors form a pack of six men , they came to earth to recover an item and also hopefully to find their forever mates .This is Nax and Crista's story and how finally they found their love . There is so much that happens before they get their HEA.

I was frustrated with the heroine in this installment of the series. I had a lot of hope for her and Nax based on the Christmas short preview. However, she just kept trying to deny him because of her mothers situation. EVEN though he told her repeatedly it was not an issue and he would gladly take care of them both. It was also overly disappointing that when he unveils being an alien she handles it horribly and passes out. Humans already know and are familiar with aliens, she even mentions having thought about an alien as a husband before. Why was she so freaked out?!My biggest issue and part of the reason I'm rating this so low, is that fact on release day it was not available on KU and only for sale for 2.99. I wanted to read this installment asap and since it wasn't on KU, I didn't think it would be for a long time. But nope, just a few short days later it is placed on KU. What the heck? So I guess the author decided to suck in more cash from the people who had been waiting on this book and then dropped it on KU? That felt very deceitful. And these short alien romances aren't exactly books I want to own and purchase because this story isn't one I'm going to want to pick up and re read. And if I did for some reason, I could simply download it again.
